Chris Knudson is a songwriter, composer, musician, bandleader, producer, and engineer having lived and worked in Texas, New York City, Los Angeles, Berlin, Germany, and currently Portland, Oregon. He primarily produces, records and releases music on Lightstone Records under the Kanude and previously Val Holler monikers. His music has been featured in HBO's “True Blood” and the seminal indie film “El Mariachi.”

"The earliest music I remember listening to was the American and British music of the late 1960s and early 1970s, on my dad's reel-to-reel tape deck: The Beatles, Peter, Paul and Mary, The Byrds and other folk and rock acts from the era. There are photographs of me at age 3 or 4 with these big white over-the-ear headphones plugged in to my dad's wood-enclosure stereo system. I moved forward and backward musically from there."
